Things to do in Belfast

It’s not everyday that a couple is offered 12-hours of free childcare to hit Belfast and enjoy themselves. So you guessed it I grabbed Mr M. and we headed to the big smoke for a date-day; our OhhSocial app in hand for some inspiration and phenomenal offers.

Date Day on OhhSocial

It’s not everyday that a couple is offered 12-hours of free childcare to hit Belfast and enjoy themselves. So you guessed it I grabbed Mr M and we headed to the big smoke for a date-day; our OhhSocial app in hand for some inspiration and phenomenal offers.

There's lots to do in Belfast - browse around the atmospheric St George’s Market, shop until you drop or take one of the many sightseeing tours to learn more about our great city.

Discover famous landmarks such as Belfast City Hall or Crumlin Road Gaol, or explore historic artefacts and stunning art collections at the Ulster Museum but, as our day started late afternoon we choose to indulge ourselves in the city’s buzzing hospitality scene with cocktails and an evening meal.

We started our afternoon in the very chic Malmasion Hotel Bar, which is renowned for their welcoming atmosphere and customer service. It was a busy Sunday afternoon with many indulging in afternoon tea, but we were saving ourselves for dinner and so opted for cocktails – we were not disappointed!

Our bar tender Jerry was very attentive and knowledgeable. We enjoyed Mal’s twist on the classics Cosmopolitan and whiskey sour - a Metropolitan and a New York Sour. Buy one cocktail & get one free – Saving £9

Next stop, Love & Death Inc. on Ann Street, this little gem in nestled up stairs on a busy shopping street beside Victoria Square, blink and you would miss it and its famous cocktails!

Up the stairs we ventured to be greeted by 2 very friendly staff, one of which seated us and gave us the somewhat interesting menu; now this was an experience in itself, check out the pictures. We flicked through the beautiful comic book pages, to find our cocktail of choice, before ordering at the bar.

Sticking to gin, and my love of rose wine, I couldn’t pass the ‘Angels Blush’, which was mixed to perfection and came served in a tall glass with lots ice; so refreshing and delicious – I had to have 2! Buy one cocktail & get one free up to 8pm daily – Saving £8.50

Now early evening, we took a short walk to City Hall where we decided to try Solo Restaurant & Bar on Wellington Place. The atmosphere in Solo is very relaxed, the interior is visually beautiful and the comfortable booths will make you want to stay a little bit longer.

Myself and Mr M both enjoyed a full steak dinner, accompanied by a glass of wine! This is the best steak I have had in Belfast city this year; a beautiful piece of meat and cooked to perfection! Coupled with the fantastic customer service, we couldn’t recommend this jewel of a restaurant highly enough. Buy one main course & get one free – Saving £24

To finish our evening, we walked off our dinner and headed to Goose Lane to visit A.P.O.C, now if you haven’t visited this is a must. A short trip down the entry beside Aether & Echo, you will find a bright red door, with a buzzer; yes, you got it, its like a 1920’s speak-easy and what’s inside is simply amazing!

We had a lovely evening, with Matt as our host – greeted with a warm fire and glass of fizz, we enjoyed listening to his expertise before his mixologist moment making our cocktails! To complete our experience, we had their newly launched cheese board; don’t judge we didn’t have desert at Solo! This was a fabulous accompaniment to our drinks and to finish off our evening.

A.P.O.C is still Belfast's best kept secret and exclusively buy a cocktail & get one free up to 8pm daily – Saving £10

As days out go, this is certainly a Sunday that myself and Mr M. will not forget. We indulged in some fabulous cocktails, mouth-watering food, but most of all it was the hospitality at each venue which really made our date-day complete.

We choose 1 of 3 offers available on OhhSocial in each venue, and saved a whopping £51 in just one afternoon! What’s even better, we get to do it all again, but next time I might take my sister, so she ends up paying her half and I get to eat and drink for free!

Shhh... we have the OhSocial App for just £10 HERE.
